Animal Companions and Familiars
Certain familiars and animal companions can only be summoned upon reaching certain levels. This was done for purposes of game balance and flavor.
Wizards and sorcerers must be level 7 or higher to summon the following familiars:
• Fairy Dragon
• Fire Mephit
• Hell Hound
• Ice Mephit
• Imp
• Pixie
• Pseudo-dragon
Note: Eyeball familiars are not currently allowed and will only be granted to those of advanced level who have shown a sincere dedication to role-play.
Druids must be level 4 and rangers level 8 to summon the following animal companions:
• Boar
• Panther
• Spider
Druids must be level 7 and rangers level 14 to summon the following animal companions:
• Bear
• Dire Wolf
Death of Familiars – Because of the strong bond between a familiar and its master, the mage or sorcerer will be inflicted with an experience point loss in proportion to his or her level should the familiar be killed. Summoning of another familiar requires 100 pieces of gold in order to obtain the required materials for the creature’s summoning.
Note: Summoning a familiar for the first time does not require 100 pieces of gold.
Death of Animal Companions – Animal companions are also closely bonded with their masters. As a result when one dies, the druid or ranger may not summon another until he or she obtains another level in either the druid or ranger class.
